Kidnapping and Killing of British Couple

The story's headline provokes sadness. Sympathy for, hoping she is still alive, the frightened woman whose husband was shot dead in her presence and the ordeal that followed her capture. But in all the theories that are circulating, non can be so correct as to rectify the wrong done, the damage to the couple - a life was taken, nor the impact on Kenya's tourism or government's face. It also brings a headache to the Italian family that owns the property where the blood of an innocent was shed.

What beats me is the idea that some people only feel insecure when in Africa, calling us barbaric, never-for-5000yrs-evolved, ungrateful people. Reading comments from different people from across the world on news' websites gives one insight into the madness that is thickly covered by suits and polished shoes among some of the Western people. If no one wants to die on holiday someplace not civilised, why would they even consider going there? If the way the Pelizzoli family advertises their security measures to assure tourists is irksome, how about the security measures advertised during Prince Williams' wedding or Obama's entourage coverage. If the "First World" was up to the nines in security, Rupert Murdoch would never have been attacked in parliament nor an attack or a break/sneak-in to the Queen's territory possible. Burkingham palace: who would expect a security breach the height of someone dressed like Osam bin Laden getting through? What is the meaning of the English word irony again? It has nothing to do with how Prince Harry would wear a Swastika-ed garment for a fun-filled night in post-Nazi era Britain.

All we pray for is the safety of that poor woman. But I hope that Obama and Cameron take that as a warning, It was in Kenya in 1998 that Osama bin Laden murdered hundreds before the 9/11 and 7/7 acts in America and Britain. As a Kenyan, I am tired of reading the comments of those who know zero about the sweat we have to wipe off our brows to remain alive and functioning where we are- between many hard places and rocks.
