Kenya has FINALLY declared war on Somalia's Al Shabaab. After all these time, one is made to wonder what the country's government had been waiting for. They knew this was going to happen- that those hasslers would try to make Kenya and the whole region as unstable as they have made their own country. Aiding Somalia to feed their hungry women and children was just one of the ways in which the doors to Kenya's purse and armoury were broken into. There are some good people in the land I am sure, but they are the weak ones. The strong ones are unfortunately those who think that they have the right to kick each one of their neighbours, especially those who seem to be closely linked to the West, to submission of the Al Shabaab ways.
How many times people said this was going to happen but the government allowed it to go on? How many signs did we see, including some journalists' myopic view of the whole situation playing in Kenya under the PM/President's noses eg. stories that glorified the fact that Somalians had turned Eastleigh, Nairobi, into their Capital City? If we continue to allow the rubbish that has been poured into Kenya via the Somali people that have now acquired Kenyan Identity Cards and Passports to seep across the nation, it will only be months before Kenya is once again in the news with more than just one region 's houses and lives going up in flames. We don't just need for army personnel to be sent to the border with Somalia which is actually closed now but to keep a closer eye on those who are already in our country and are not there for business to feed their families and build the nation alongside everyone else. Some are there to make money in the most illegal of ways, causing the deaths of innocent Kenyans and spoiling everything we worked hard for while they fought over a bowl of soup instead of looking for other kinds of foods. We need to not just act but stay alert -each Kenyan has that responsibility and I hope that the government will educate the public on this. It is crucial that each person takes what this thugs have been doing as a direct provocation hence taking the shield that we so proudly display on our national flag in a bid to defend ourselves. We MUST defend us.
